Village Creek

Village Creek is a working waste water treatment plant in Arlington. Due to the presence of all the water, some interesting birds are attracted there. I have seen Black-necked Stilts, Indigo Buntings, and a variety of other birds there in the past. This time when I pulled through the gate a female Cardinal posed for me.

Then I saw a bird to add to my life list - the Yellow-headed Blackbird.

And another to check off the list - a Black-bellied Whistling-duck.

And another! I believe this one is a Wilson's Phalarope.

Then I saw the male Yellow-headed Blackbird.

Soaring overhead were two Mississippi Kites.

Whistling-ducks in flight.

If you look closely you will see him eating a dragonfly.
